The only blood is where Navin gets a cut on his hand. The transformation may be scary.Īmulet, Book 3: The Cloud Searchers is less scary than the previous books. At the end of the book, Luger turns into a big monster. The characters Luger, Trellis, and the Elf King may be scary. There are lots of good messages.Īmulet, Book 2: The Stonekeeper's Curse is a great book. The character Trellis may be scary to young kids (At one point he eats a small, strange creature but we don't see him when he does this). Near the end the Arachnopod is split in two but there's no blood. Also a young boy gets stuck in the Arachnopod but then gets out. Also, the mom gets stuck inside a slimy, tentacled creature called an Arachnopod. Later in the book, another character dies of a disease (You don't know it's a disease until you read book four). The dad dies in the crash he's stuck in the car, which is right next to a cliff, and it falls with him in it. The mom's nose gets hurt and blood can be seen. In the prologue a mom, dad, and their daughter are in a car crash. Emily and Navin are definitely role model material.Okay this is my review on books 1-8 so be prepared for a long review.Īmulet, Book 1: The Stonekeeper is a great book, but it can be scary. Kids will love seeing people their own age as strong and independent main characters. The storyline is interesting and leaves you wanting to know more. The main characters are easy to relate to, and the supporting characters are serious but amusing at the same time.
THE STONEKEEPER, the first in the AMULET series, is a quick yet enjoyable read, set up in graphic novel form. After hearing noises in the basement, their mother is kidnapped by a strange creature.Įmily and Navin, with the help of Emily's stone necklace, now have to find their mother and figure out what is going on in this strange new town. Emily is very interested by this old house, particularly one room upstairs in which she finds a beautiful necklace with a very pretty stone in it.Įmily's cool find is soon overshadowed by a very strange first night in the house. Their new house is very old and has been in their family for years.
